Hi, this is going to be a page of updates on Ron Powell. He was in a accident Friday night while racing. During the 4th lap he wrecked and while getting out of his cart and walking away he was struck by another go cart. As of right now, we are waiting for the doctors to get Ron stable and let us know when he can have surgery. As of right now it seems that it will be Tuesday or later. We will let yall know asap! It is very sad and unfortunate, but please pray, and continue to pray for him and for the family. God is going to do great things in the road ahead!
Everyday someone is going to log on and continue the updates below.

Friday: Around 8pm he was racing at Burke County Racing Speedway and doing great he had come from 10th to 5th in four laps, then the worst of worst happened. He got into a wreck and was rushed to the hospital. At that point they called Tammy (Sally and Daisey were with her), Dale and Rosemary, whom were all in Thomasville and informed them on what happened. They then rushed to Augusta, GA to get to Ron as quickly as they could. All everyone knew was that he was in a wreck and needed to get here. They would not tell them anything over the phone.

Saturday: Saturday was a very long day for Ron and family. He was rushed into the trauma department Saturday morning around 1:00 am. Later that morning around 6:00am they finally got him stable and were able to run ct scans and mri's on him...later on that day we discovered some news that is going to change his life forever. He had a little bleeding on the brain, both lungs collapsed, his ribs are broken, he has 3 vertabrates fractured in his neck, in his lower back the spinal cord severed which led to him being paralyzed from the waist down. Doctor Deustch from Thomasville, GA. (a great doctor and great friend to the powell's) drove up to Augsta to look at everything and really inform Ron and the family what was happening and what is going to happen. Thats when we got the greatest news, he is going to make it through this, nothing seems life threatning, the only thing is that he is not going to be able to walk. At that point, we didnt care, and we still dont care. We are so thankful that he is still here with us today. He is a miracle from God.

Sunday: The morning started off great. He seemed to be improving. His color looked good and he was talking and smiling. There were many of family and friends who came to see Ron and actually got to go back and see him in the trauma department. He was and is so greatful for that. Also, that morning he had gotten his first bath since the wreck. After his bath he started itching as well as started to get dellusional. They ran a few test on him and we are still waiting to hear from them. We will update you tomorrow!

Monday: Last night we had a little trouble with Ron. He went into a state of not knowing people and trying to fight to get his oxygen tube out etc. so today they are running EEG's to see if they can rule out seizures. The doctors just recently met with ron and they said that he will have his surgery Wednesday at 10 am (at MCG in Augusta) to repair his spinal cord which is great becasue that means that the doctors have finally been able to get Ron stable! Also, another exciting thing happened today, he was able to eat a little bit (pudding and apple sauce)as well as able to drink some water! Yay!! Pray, Pray, Pray!!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVE TO RON POWELL AND THE FAMILY. WE ASK ALL OF YALL TO CONTINUE PRAYING. ALSO, THANK ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE DROVE TO AUGSTA TO VISIT AS WELL AS THOSE WHO HAVE CALLED AND CHECKED IN ON RON! SHOWS WHAT GREAT FRIENDS HE HAS!

  10. Ron, We don't know you well, but have met you at races before. I work at East Georgia and was there this past weekend. I know that you and your family are asking "why". Only God knows the answer to that question. Put all of your trust and faith in Him. He has a purpose for us all and He has a plan for you! "I can do all things thru God, who strengthens me!" Trust in the word and in His love. If there is anything that we can do, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. You may be far from home, but you are still among family. May God blees you and keep you.

    Ron, Tammy and Family,

Carolyn, Clayton and I are praying for each of you and emoitions you must be experiencing right now. We have a dear friend who experienced something similar a couple of years ago. It is very difficult, but very attainable. Patience, love and family all anchored in the Grace of God will be sufficient. Though there will be times of severe doubt. I am going to pass your blog site to my friend (Carmen Thompson) you might hear from her and her husband Terry. You can do this together centerd in Christ.

It is during our most trying times that we tend to lose sight of our faith. But, those are also the times when we are most cradled by the hands of God. 84. Mahatma Gandhi once said “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” Ron, everyone who knows you, and everyone who has written, called, visited and prayed for you, knows that above all things, you are a fighter. We all know that with your positive attitude, and undying will to fight, you and your entire family will get through this. There are so many people that are praying for you, remember that there is strength in numbers.

To every family member, friend and supporter remember this…

Never stop looking at the all the miracles we have had.
Never stop loving the ones you hold dear.
Never stop smiling, look forward to each new day.
Never forget that all storms will clear.
Remember brighter tomorrows are always near.

You all will continue to be in my prayers.

    Macrina Boyd and Family.

  97. Tammy - My heart is hurting so terribly for you and your family at this very difficult and challenging time. I just can't get this tragedy out of my mind and I will continue to lift the Powell family up to our Heavenly Father daily. You've been thru alot and this will be a long journey through an extremely deep valley, but you know first hand how God can distribute blessings in hard times. I love you and I'm praying for God to just wrap his loving arms around you and just give you the peace and comfort that only He can. I wish I could be there, but for now I can pray. Keep your focus on God and know that He IS in complete control and that His will will be done. I'm a phone call away if you need me. I love you and I will continue to pray for courage and strength for you, Ron, Sally & Daisy. I pray that the entire family will feel the presence of our Almighty God!!!

  99. I am in Orlando this weekend but am checking with the Home Office constantly for the latest updates on Ron. All of you are being constantly covered with prayers. I even asked a sales clerk today that if she believed in prayers to please pray for Ron at 2:30 p.m.

For we know that all things work together for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose. Jesus is still very much in the miracle business.

I will check this site throughout the weekend. Many prayers and love, Bonnie H

  100. Ron, You and your beautiful family are in my thoughts and prayers!! I am so thankful to God that you are still with us today. I am reminded once again how precious each and every day is that we share with our loved ones and how easily it can all be taken away, and that it is not to be taken for granted.

    Ron,

Patircia and I learned of your accident yesterday while hiking in the mountains. Cinda was checking her facebook and saw where Matt had commented about it. We were surprised to have telephone service considering where we were. When Cinda told me I had to pause. Please know that we had no idea that you had been in a serious accident and we apologize for such a late response.

You, Tammy, Sally, Daisy and your mom, dad and grandmother are and will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Ron, I am speechless as to what to say, except for one thing, which is:

I had the privilege of knowing your grandaddy Mack, and have known your grandmother, mom and dad long before you were with us. The combined character and drive I observed in them transferred to you. I saw that drive in you as a young boy cutting grass in the neighborhood and saw it develop into a clean-cut gentleman and corporate executive. I have no doubt that you will move past this horrific moment in your life bcause you of all people have the God given tools that have been modeled to you for three generations. Son, get well; you have work to do!!!

With kindest regards and a speedy recovery:

    Lynn and Patricia
